We are a non-governmental organization committed to the transformation of our environment, through voluntary service.
We promote travel with cause connecting people wishing to generate a change with social causes, thus achieving a positive impact in the communities and generating awareness about our reality.
PROJECT
The Casa Hogar is located in the city of San Cristóbal
de Las Casas, its objective is to shelter children in
street situations, who have been separated from their
family due to some type of abuse, who have been
orphaned, who have been abandoned by their family or
that they present some particular trait -disability, age-,
and for this reason they have not found an adoptive
family.
The children have been linked through the DIF (Integral
Development of Families) who are in charge of
monitoring certain periods of the year but do not
subsidize the expenses generated within.
Casa Hogar is autonomous and independent, so part of
its financing is thanks to donations. The DIF is only in
charge of carrying out audits to see the legal status of
the children.
Custody of the children is held by María and Oscar, a
couple who welcomed the children and who ensure that
they find in this space the warmth of a home.
Currently, VIVA Volunteering coordinates the activities
within the space, where we serve 14 children between
the ages of 2 and 16 (there is a 22-year-old youth with
a disability) and we implement the VIVA educational
program.
VIVA monitors the evolution of the children and tries to ensure that there are always volunteers so that the children continue their studies.
Some children have been in the home for years and some others have recently arrived, some temporarily while their situation is being resolved and others more permanently as they do not have relatives who can take care of it. So the number of children is sometimes irregular.
We try that in this space the children receive the warmth of a home, so since 2019, volunteers have been a fundamental part of this process. growth of both the children and the consolidation of our initiative.
İş Tanımı
The activities are carried out from Monday to Friday
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. doing school activities and/or in
the afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. intended for
extracurricular support or activities that favor the
development of skills in painting, music, crafts, values
and/ or recreational activities. The activities are
according to the needs. Therefore, during your
participation, you can be there in the mornings and/or
afternoons depending on the needs of the children.
Our participation in the home is to implement our
educational program, during the school period, so it is
necessary that we can recreate the routine of a school.
Taking into account that children do "school at home".
During the holiday period, the workshops are carried
out according to the volunteer's abilities, since they
are more free.
"School at home"
The children take classes inside the home, guided
through the curriculum and accompanied by volunteers.
Not all children have the appropriate level for their
age. Therefore, much of the work is in support of
regularization.
We try to provide personalized attention, either
individually or in groups, according to the priorities of
the children's levels.
"Motor skills"
As we have preschool-age children, we also require
support to improve their motor skills so that they can
start the first grade of primary school without difficulties.
"Playful activities2
The game is an important part of the development of
our children, so we always try to promote games with
values to reflect on.
"Sports"
We want children to be able to have routines related to
sports, so the days are finished with at least 30
minutes of physical activity.
"Art and more..."
Not everything is school, we also want you to share what
you like and enjoy the most. So don't hesitate to tell us
about your skills and interests. We will be very happy if
you can support us in continuing our workshops in:
- Music
- Singing
- Drawing
- Paint/Watercolor
- Kitchen
- Theater
- Orchards/agriculture
- Embroidery/woven
- English
- And everything you want to share is welcome

Konum ve Serbest Zaman
Chiapas is located in the south of Mexico. It is divided into 124 municipalities and its capital and most populous city is Tuxtla Gutiérrez. The most important cities in the state after the capital are Tapachula, San Cristóbal de Las Casas and Comitán. The state adjoins the states of Oaxaca, Veracruz, Tabasco and we share a border with Guatemala.
During pre-Columbian times, Chiapas was one of the main settlements of the Mayan civilization. Currently, we have at least 14 ethnic groups and more than 16 indigenous languages spoken throughout the state.
Currently, Chiapas is listed as one of the states with the highest rate of school dropout, poverty; as well as the lack of and access to health services, infrastructure and basic services within indigenous communities.
VIVA was born in Chiapas, as a space where we believe that volunteering can transform lives, and at the same time, we want to contribute our grain of sand that allows change.
San Cristóbal de las Casas is located in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. It is the cultural capital of the state, and was designated a 'Pueblo Mágico' by the Mexican government in 2003. It has retained much of its Spanish colonial character in its street plans and architecture.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas or "Sancris" as
locals and travelers call it, it is a multicultural city
where Europeans, Asians, Latinos and ethnic
groups from the Altos region coexist.
Stroll around town, enjoy the environment and lovely buildings, visit cafés, restaurants, churches and squares. San Cristóbal has an active nightlife when it comes to the artistic scene, including clubs, electronic events, live concerts, jams, cabarets and niche local cinema.
