For the fourth year, Concordia is pleased to be partnering with the commune of Les Mureaux. We are bridging the gap between the Mureaux citizen passport project and Concordia volunteering. You'll be teamed up with young people from the community, thanks to the town council, which has asked us to get involved in a open-minded and supportive approach.

Participate in the beautification of a former seniors' residence, the Georges Julienne residence in Les Mureaux!
In the city of Les Mureaux, social and youth structures are essential for social action at family level, and for the city's cultural activity. You'll be helping to furnish the residence, making it more attractive for everyone, by landscaping their gardens and repainting the walls. You'll also be asked to create pallet wood furniture that will bring conviviality to the community. An awareness-raising workshop on sustainable development will be organized, as well as visits to civic sites in Paris.

You will be accommodated in two apartments within an artistic residence. The rooms are non-mixed, and there's a kitchen in the apartment for breakfasts and dinners, where you'll take turns cooking for all the volunteers. There's a supermarket nearby. You'll be comfortable here, especially as the accommodation is a 15-minute walk from the site, but you'll need to get there by car. The site is a 5-minute walk from public transport to Paris. Lunch during the week will be taken at the Léo Lagrange canteen. A budget will be allocated to the coordinators for the shopping you'll be doing, giving preference to healthy, local produce and vegetarian products. There will be no wifi on the mission site. There is no washing machine, but laundromats are available in town for €4.

Les Mureaux is a suburban town of 32,000 inhabitants in the northern Yvelines region, 30 minutes from the capital by public transport. Civic and tourist outings are planned, including visits to the “Cité fertile”, “Académie du Climat” and the immigration museum. On the more touristy side, a guided tour of the Château de Versailles, an evening at the funfair and a cruise on the Seine in a “bâteau-mouche” are also planned.

Bring work clothes. Nights can be chilly, so remember to bring warm clothes, a pillowcase and a pillow. Bring rain gear (fleece, raincoat, etc.). Don't forget your sun protection (hat, sunglasses, cream, etc.), a water bottle and your swimsuit for swimming at the leisure center.
There will be plenty of time for socializing, especially with local adults, children, teenagers and senior citizens. If you'd like to share a little of your culture (music, songs, recipes, unusual objects...), don't hesitate to bring along a little piece of your country or region, children's books, a Bluetooth speaker or a musical instrument to show off your favorite playlist!
The internet connection is very weak, so you'll be immersed in nature. There's no launderette nearby, so laundry will mainly be done by hand.
The last day of the workcamp (8/08) is devoted to departure in the morning.
