In Tanzania, as in any other countries around the world, the topic of sustainable living has become an important discussion due to the treats coming from global changes. However, many people may have heard about sustainable living but are not sure exactly what it means. Lack of knowledge and exposure have significantly increased lifestyles that cause more environmental and health damage for future generations to deal with. Sustainable living project an initiative aiming to promote organic production to sustain food security. The project is focusing in advocating for small scale or back yard gardening which is affordable even by people who does not own land. The results of this initiative are to enable the household to have sufficient supply vegetables and fruits free from toxic, reducing cost of life by utilize small back yard spaces to produce food. The project will be hosted by Zanzibar Environmental conservation volunteers (ZAVECO), a local based organization in Zanzibar.

Maintenance of organic vegetable garden that will include composting activities, weeding, watering plants, as well participate in organizing educational activities on sustainable living & healthy eating. Volunteers will experience as well how to cook available and health traditional foods which are now in danger to disappear. Special activities for children accompanied by their parents/guardians on nature conservation will be organized.
Konaklama ve Yemek
Accommodation will be at the community residential house in the project compound. Volunteers will share rooms. Food will be provided at the project designated site. Vegetarian meals will be available.
Konum ve Serbest Zaman
The project will be hosted in Urban West Region, eastern central part of Zanzibar. The community is located 20km away from stone town along the high way to South Zanzibar and can be easily accessible by public and private transport. The project provides you with an opportunity to enjoy what nature and Zanzibar Islands landscape offer. Options are Stone town tour including museums and Zanzibar historical sites, Spice tour, blue safari, swimming among many other water sports and enjoyment.
