The South Africa Volunteer Work Camp Association (SAVWA) will contribute towards the development of South African communities both urban and rural through local, national, regional and international volunteers to work together towards the cultural, economic, socio-political well-being of young people and marginalised persons or groups through empowerment work camps programs and promotion of sustainable development.

The South Africa Volunteer Work Camp Association shall work and collaborate with other Volunteer driven organisation, Regional Work Camp Associations, and organisations.

South Africa Volunteer Work Camp Association is a member of Southern African Workcamp Cooperation (SAWC), Partner with Service Civil International (SCI), Full member of Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) and Partner Member of Alliance if European Voluntary Service Organisations.

Enjoy working with children? Join us this coming months of 2024 Soshanguve, Pretoria and be part of our efforts to establish an after-school program for local kids. You'll assist in organizing engaging non-formal activities such as English lessons, arts and crafts, theatre, sports etc. Additionally, volunteers will actively contribute to the development of our Youth Center. Through this platform, we'll craft captivating lessons, thought-provoking articles, and captivating videos on subjects like volunteering, embracing cultural diversity, and other pertinent themes. We're looking for passionate people like you to help us create these activities. As a volunteer, you'll bring your fresh ideas and creativity to shape the curriculum and plan exciting activities. Working together with other volunteers, you'll create an unforgettable experience that will change the lives of local youth forever.

Volunteer Tasks Volunteers and community members will give support and guide local as well as international participants to different community development engagements. They will also ensure their activities address challenges that local communities face daily through development awareness through Social, economic, community, family, religious etc.)

Activities range from community outreach to administrative work. Volunteers should prepare to assist with one or more of the following: creating an awareness campaign with other volunteers, administration work and a general report. Accommodation shared with the other volunteers; The accommodation is granting easy access to public transportation, shops, and various entertainment facilities and is fully equipped with modern amenities, furniture, cosy bunk beds with fresh bed sheets, cutlery, and essential toiletries.

Sleeping bag, sun cream, mosquito spray/lotion, sandals, shoes are advisable. Raincoat, light working clothes during working hours and warm clothes at night, as it may turn out to be chilly; Torch or flash light and arts and cultural items such as drums etc. for the children even sporting equipment such as soccer balls etc. and board games.

Language: The community has multi-cultural people and English is mostly spoken with local languages such as Sotho, Zulu, and Tshwana to name a few.

Leisure Activities: The Weekend is meant to be for free tours that the group can organize by themselves. All our work camps are reserved for cultural nights when each volunteer can present her/his country and culture and prepare a dish from your country.

Requirements: Qualification of participants: Open minded, ready to interact with other people of different cultural background - Positive attitude - Willing to share his/her experiences - Flexible to live/stay in simple living conditions - Flexible to eat local food - Ready to do academic work on the project and No experience needed at all. Willingness to guide students especially in cultural and arts activities. Some weekends may have excursions with students to different areas of Pretoria.
