The New Life Center – Samrong project focuses on improving access to quality
English education for children in a rural community located approximately 30
km from Siem Reap city. The center is part of the New Life English Center
network, which operates two community-based schools and currently provides
free English education to more than 550 children aged 3–18.
Founded by Sa Chea, whose own life was transformed through educational
support from NGOs and international sponsors, New Life Center was
established to give underprivileged children opportunities beyond what public
schooling alone can offer. While government schools primarily teach in Khmer,
this project strengthens students’ ability to read, speak, and write in English—
skills that are critical for future education and employment.
Through this project, Cambodian Youth Action (CYA) partners with New Life
Center – Samrong to extend its education mission into rural areas where
support is most needed. The collaboration creates meaningful roles for
national and international volunteers to contribute directly to classroom
learning, student development, and cross-cultural exchange, ensuring longterm
impact for both children and the wider community.

- Support children and youth by teaching English and basic digital skills through interactive lessons, games, and practical activities.
- Assist local women in sewing and vocational training sessions, helping them build confidence and incomegenerating skills.
- Help improve the learning environment by maintaining classrooms, planting and caring for vegetable gardens, and promoting sustainable practices.
- Work closely with local teachers, students, and families to support daily activities, encourage cultural exchange, and strengthen community participation.
Konaklama ve Yemek
- Food: Volunteers will enjoy daily meals prepared by the host family, featuring authentic
Cambodian cuisine. Volunteers are encouraged to assist with meal-related tasks such as serving, cleaning, and washing dishes. Those interested can also join the cooking team to learn local recipes and culinary skills, adding a fun and cultural experience to their stay.
- Volunteers will stay in a shared house in a share volunteer’s house inside New Life School campus, offering simple and basic living conditions. The accommodation is equipped with essential amenities, including a mattress, pillow, blanket, and mosquito net to ensure a good rest. Bathroom and toilet facilities are available for daily personal hygiene.
Konum ve Serbest Zaman
You will have a weekend off to explore some tourist spots around the project area. We will not arrange any tour for everyone therefore, you can discuss with your friends where you would like to spend the weekend. There are some interesting options for the team to explore, and the project coordinator will introduce you to some attractions but still, the decision is yours. He/she also can help to arrange the transportation for you as well if you needed, but the cost will be on your own expenses.
