Brief description:The Rehabilitation Center of Torture Victims Memoria (RCTV Memoria ) is a non-governmental, nonprofit,apolitical and independent organization, having the status of public institution, was established on 12November 1999 and registered at the Ministry of Justice on 7 December 1999, We have 10 full time and 3 part time employees and 1 local volunteer.Our main activities are the following:1. Medico-social rehabilitation: providing free of charge medical, psychological, informational and legalassistance;2. Prevention of torture: organizing conferences, workshops and other events with main topic - themedico-social rehabilitation of the torture victims, as well as any other kind of the activities with scientific,legal and humanitarian character, inclusively taking part in similar actions;3. Information and Advocacy: elaborating and editing of the own publications, reports and informativematerials;4. Improving knowledge of the Center s staff members: organizing and participation at various nationaland international events;5. Developing partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions: participations as an activemember in various local and international alliances and networks in order to achieve efficiently the objectivesof our organization.

Volunteer tasks and Role:Proposed activities for the volunteer are: to keep and develop collaboration with other NGOs and public institutions; to maintain and update our web page; to encourage and promote local volunteering; to help in organizing conferences, workshops for medical professionals and other eventsrelated to 26 June (International Day in Support of Survivors of Torture) - with main topic -the medico-social rehabilitation of the torture victims; to help in editing reports, informative materials; to help developing social contacts with our beneficiaries by organizing thematicworkshops, discussions or simply daily conversations. To organize cultural activities, e.g.: cultural evenings, film festivals with torture subjects. Handmade crafts: making candles, bags, cards, handmade jewellery. Fundraising activities (writing letters to different donors, organizing fundraising events). Language lessons for our beneficiaries.Working hours: 4-6 hours/day

Accommodation:There are different types of accommodation: A bedroom in the host family; A bedroom in a flat out side of the project where 2-6 volunteers live together.It depends on the availability of the places for the time of your application. Food: Volunteers receive food allowance

Location:Project is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Moldova i Chisinau. Chisinau is the mainadministrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of Moldova. The city has just over 700,000inhabitants and the whole metropolitan area is roughly one million inhabitants. In terms of number ofinhabitants, Chisinau is the largest city of the country. Chisinau is divided in five administrative sectors;Botanica, Buiucani, Center, Ciocana and Riscani. It is often referred to as the greenest city in Europe dueto the high proportion of well maintained green spaces.
