Voluntary service is a unique cross-cultural experience program aiming to connect people from around the world with local communities in Tanzania. The program offers a powerful vision built on our belief that volunteers have a vital role to play in development and in building a more fair and sustainable world community. The program provides opportunities to experience different cultures, meet people from different countries, learn new or improve skills, take part in peace making and hands-on on various community development projects. It is an exceptional option for people to gain experience in service projects and increase understanding in global issues. The program which is one of the UVIKIUTA’s core projects is looking for a motivated volunteer to assist in increased quality, visibility and accessibility of volunteers from Tanzania and around the world.

- Participate in International workcamps as a co-leader
- Assist to develop and maintain networks and relationships to achieve volunteer recruitment targets.
- Assist in writing accurate project descriptions highlighting key information to market the volunteer projects.
- Assist to prepare marketing material (PowerPoint presentations, expo displays, posters/fliers)
- Assisting to conduct regular volunteer Information sessions to recruit local volunteers and promote volunteer projects
- Assisting to generate regular updates (at least weekly) for social media team, including short stories and accompanying photographs

You will be accommodated at the host family located in an eco-village. Basic accommodation facilities will be provided. You should expect to share a room with either a host family member or other volunteers (from the same or other projects). Food will be provided by both the host family and the project. Vegetarian meals will also be available.

The project is located at Chamazi, an eco-village located about 25 km South of Dar es Salaam city and almost the same distance from Julius Nyerere International airport, Dar es Salaam. Social services are available including telecommunications, shopping centers, banking facilitates, recreation sites, etc. This makes the community an attractive place to live for people who are commuting to Dar es salaam city Centre for work every day. The community is accessible by public and private transport systems. We have a lot to enjoy at the Eco-village including walking in woods and other sports, traditional meals and entertainments, there is also a possibility to visit the National Museum, village museum, city tour. More activities include Dar es Salaam Zoo, swimming and beach activities, visiting the close by Mikuni or Selous National Park. A night in Zanzibar during weekends has always been an option.

The project is looking for a volunteer who can spend a minimum 4 weeks and 12 weeks maximum. The volunteer is expected to have ability to competently use MS Office suite to deliver work, especially Word, Excel spread sheets and mail merge and comfortable working with a variety of databases, communication skills, including English writing and grammar skills. He/she should have Interest to interacting with people from various backgrounds, Open minded, flexible, and have the ability to work independently with less supervision.
