This project is organizedand hosted by De Amicitia www.deamictia.org. De Amicitia is an environmental non governmental organisation that is funded in 1998 and actively working in the youth field and volunteering for 25 years. The main activity of the organisations is organising workcamps and local/ international youth projects in collaboration with the town halls and local associations. De Amicitia is part of Anna Lindh Foundation, The Alliance and WWOOF network.
We have recently acquired a house called CASA JAZMIN that acts as a permanent volunteer center in the Valencian Community, 100 km from Valencia and Alicante, where volunteers stay in our projects throughout the year.
As a result of the recent DANA (=cloudburst), De Amicitia has modified its action plan and prioritized its volunteer activity in helping the victims of the environmental disaster by providing workcamp volunteers to civil society managed by civil protection, city councils and other entities.
İş Tanımı
The objective of this workcamp would be to generate a brigade or group of 7 to 9 volunteers who would daily travel to any of the towns in Valencia affected by the recent cold drop or gale. They would join other civil protection groups in their work to rebuild the environment after the natural disaster that occurred. Work will be extremly demanding and unexpected, ONLY VOLUNTEERS with high motivation, maturity and compromise are welcome.
The volunteers would live with another small group that is doing artistic work in centers for the elderly, being able to mix both groups and tasks if it does not generate any problem. Since the work will be enormously demanding, the brigade is expected to work three days in a row for 9 or 10 hours and then rest two days in a row and thus resume the rhythm.
Konaklama ve Yemek
The volunteers will stay in a volunteer house, Casa Jazmin, with three rooms with several bunkbeds and bathrooms. They will share rooms with four to six other volunteers. The house includes a nice kitchen in which the volunteers will cook for themselves in the guidance of the camp leaders.
You can either bring your own sheets or a sleeping bag. There are beds and pillows but no sheets or pillow covers.
La Casa Jazmín is recently renovated but there are always some pending tasks to complete because it is a house made for volunteers. Volunteers can carry out some basic tasks like painting, throwing out extra materials and organising spaces.
Apart from the work to be done in Valencia due to the disaster , this project may have some different other tasks for the volunteers. You may join the project AFCS 16 to organise artistic activities in eldery houses, participate in a concert in Alicante the 28th of Novemeber for the Day of the Mediterranean , orother tasks according to the actual needs of the town. Therefore, the work that you will do during the camp will vary so you have to be open for such unexpected scenario.
Konum ve Serbest Zaman
Sanet is a small town in the southwest of Spain close to Dénia (communidad de Valencia). It lays in the beautiful countryside, surrounded by hills which are great for hiking - there are a lot of hiking trails to discover.
The house is located right in the middle of town, so there are great opportunities to interact and socialize with the locals and to truly experience the Spanish countryside.
The area devastated by the DANA comprises 16 localities that act as dormitory towns of Vaelncia but maintain their industrial agricultural appearance typical of the area. Many of them are devastated, so volunteers are asked to be prepared for impracticable areas and spaces.
Notlar
We encourage Sending Organizations not to ask any fee from the volunteers and if possible to support part of the expenses of this workcamp which will mainly rely on De Amicitia´s funds
