The Associação dos Jovens Voluntários (AJOV) is a nationally recognized non-government, non-profit organization founded in 1998 in Mozambique. It was officially recognized by the Mozambican Government's Ministry of Justice on June 16, 1999 and registered in the Legal Entities of Maputo
The GOAL of AJOV is to create a fair and democratic society where young people can actively and effectively participate in their own socio-economic and cultural development as responsible citizens.
The organization aims to support and defend the rights of young people, advocate for their causes, promote self-employment and help strengthen social ties for their overall human and social development. The focus is always on protecting their autonomy, security, and dignity so they can fully exercise their citizenship.

Sport and Recreation: Encouraging healthy physical activity and leisure.
Education: Emphasizing primary and secondary education systems.

Citizen Rights: Protecting the rights of young people to fully exercise their citizenship.
Food and Nutrition Security: Ensuring young people have access to adequate food and nutrition.
Gender Equity: Promoting equal opportunities for women and men.

The project will focus on participatory and gender-inclusive planning during fieldwork. About fifteen to twenty volunteers will participate in the learning. In the implementation of the project, men and women will have the ability to raise awareness on management waste and reuse techniques to a healthy environment and source of income for the population.

AJOV has been developing several activities related to the promotion of human rights in the Raising Peace projects, among others. therefore we invite you to be part of the project given its importance as well as, will have the opportunity to be able to share and learn about the culture of this historic neighborhood called mafalala.

Maputo (Portuguese pronunciation: [mɐˈputu]), formerly named Lourenço Marques until 1976, is the capital, and largest city of Mozambique. Located near the southern end of the country, it is within 120 kilometres (75 miles) of the borders with Eswatini and South Africa. The city has a population of 1,088,449 (as of 2017[3]) distributed over a land area of 347.69 km2 (134.24 sq mi). The Maputo metropolitan area includes the neighbouring city of Matola, and has a total population of 2,717,437. Maputo is a port city, with an economy centered on commerce. It is also noted for its vibrant cultural scene and distinctive, eclectic architecture.[4][5][6]
Maputo is situated on a large natural bay on the Indian Ocean, near where the rivers Tembe, Imbeluzi, Matola and Infulene converge. The city consists of seven administrative divisions, which are each subdivided into quarters or bairros. The city is surrounded by Maputo Province, but is administered as a self-contained, separate province since 1998. Maputo City is the geographically smallest and most densely populated province in Mozambique.

AJOV will send all the necessary documents to start the visa process with the Mozambican embassy in your country or in a neighbouring country if you do not have one in your country.
Travel from Maputo Terminal Anjo Voador to Mafalala, it’s about 10 kms. There are 2 ways to get there.
- Travel by bus and car/taxi. The most popular way to travel from Maputo to Mafalala is by bus. TRAVELLING by Txopela is one of the transport option, takes about ten or fifteen minutes. Maputo Aeroport is in the town centre so everything is easily accessible.
