Khami National Monuments is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 22 kilometers west of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. It's a historic site that showcases the remnants of the Khami Empire, which flourished between the 15th and 17th centuries. Khami was the capital of the Torwa dynasty, which ruled the Kingdom of Butua from around 1450 to 1683. The site features impressive stone structures, including walls, terraces, and platforms, built using locally sourced stone blocks without mortar. Khami was an important center for trade, politics, and culture, serving as a key hub for the exchange of goods like gold, ivory, and cattle.
