SEEDS’ programme combines learning, sharing and hands-on activities. Alongside the workshops, participants will discover Reykjavík, learn about Icelandic culture and enjoy the city's unique surroundings through organised activities and optional excursions. Participants should be prepared to present environmental issues from their own countries and to spend time outdoors, including walks of up to 1.5 hours during activities and sightseeing.
Note this project is a learning/sharing camp and not a standard workcamp. This project has a smaller volunteer work part and places a greater emphasis on the personal learning process than on the community impact.

During this camp, participants will explore global and local environmental issues while developing their photography skills. If you are interested in climate change, sustainability and waste management, and enjoy photography, this project is for you!
While developing artistic and technical photography skills, you will be focusing on environmental and sustainability issues through non-formal activities such as workshops, discussions, presentations and visits facilitated by SEEDS. One of our aims is to help consumers and travellers better understand the environmental impact of their choices. You will visit local environmental and conservation projects, which may include hands-on activities or guided visits, such as outdoor cleanup tasks, nature exhibitions or Icelandic museums. Some of these activities are dependent on weather conditions, as on the availability of our partners.
You will also have time to put the theory about photography into practice while exploring the city. Through practical exercises and workshops, participants will improve both the artistic and technical aspects of photography, including composition, storytelling and photographing nature and urban environments.
Photography will be used not only as a creative skill, but also as a way to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage participants to reflect on the relationship between people and nature.
At the end of the camp, participants will select their favourite photographs for an online exhibition at SEEDS’ social media channels. Participants should bring their digital cameras, lenses, tripods and laptops if possible.
SEEDS will organise a night photography workshop combined with an aurora hunting excursion in the city. Northern lights are a natural phenomenon depending on solar activity and meteorological conditions, so we cannot guarantee you will see northern lights, but the night photography workshop will be organised anyway.
Konaklama ve Yemek
SEEDS participants will stay in a house in Reykjavík. The facilities are basic with an equipped kitchen, dining and living room, bathrooms, showers and a washing machine. Participants will sleep in shared rooms with up to 6 people so everyone is expected to behave considerately. Please bring your own towel.
Participants will receive food ingredients and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. Please note that food provided by SEEDS will be vegetarian. Do not forget to bring some vegetarian traditional/typical food, drinks, recipes, music or games from your country for the intercultural evening. Be aware some items or ingredients may be expensive in Iceland and you need to buy them yourselves or bring them from your country.
