Kuruluş
San Pio Village is a socialized housing community in Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines. It was developed to provide permanent and decent homes for poor families many of whom were once squatters, garbage scavengers, or living in dumpsite areas in Metro Cebu giving them a path out of extreme poverty and unsafe living conditions. It was initiated by missionaries and community development partners with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty for marginalized families. Habitat for Humanity sponsored many of the early houses. Management of the site was later taken over by JPIC-IDC (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation i Integrated Development Center, Inc.), the social action arm of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) congregation. The JPIC-IDC Garden Re-invigoration Project is GIED s effort in providing support to JPIC as one of its Local Partner Institution (LPI) greatly affected by super typhoon Tino in November 2025. This initiative will focus on the restoration and revitalization of their community garden after it was devastated by the aftermath of the said typhoon.
