Kuruluş
Learn and Play Kindergarten project was created in 2019 and located at Ahero Resource Centre with the goal of helping to improve the education of impoverished children in the Ahero village of Kisumu County. Volunteers primarily work in a school established to provide education and support to children from the local and wider community.

Volunteers play a crucial role in schools by contributing to various aspects of the educational process. They provide personalized attention to students, assist teachers with administrative duties, and support extracurricular activities. By bringing diverse skills and perspectives, volunteers enrich the learning experience and contribute to a positive, supportive school environment. Their involvement helps alleviate resource shortages by adding extra manpower and expertise. Ultimately, volunteers are essential in creating a collaborative and dynamic educational setting, helping teachers shape the future of their students. Volunteers are assigned classes where they assist the teacher to go about the daily assignments. Assignments range from teaching, cleaning, feeding amongst other stuff.

Being a volunteer for the kindergarten project in Kenya, you'll mostly work with the little ones attending nursery school and support them with basic education. Many of the underprivileged education centers in Kenya suffer from lack of resources, poor facilities and staff shortages. As a volunteer, you'll get to play an important role in the lives of the little ones attending kindergarten school, where the stepping stones of a good future are laid.

Placement profile
The Ahero Resource Center is a project that was initiated by CIVS in collaboration with the local community in 2013 with an aim to strengthen the community’s capacity to be self-reliant. This Kindergarten is located on the outskirts of Kisumu town. About 60 children in the age 3-6 attend everyday while their parents are working. The kindergarten is an educational center where the kids can develop both intellectually and emotionally. There are three who help the children with their educational activities. The children also get breakfast and a warm lunch every day, and participate in different activities: artistic, music and sports. The meals are fundamental for the children to get energy, as they do not always eat well at home. Besides the activities it is important that the children learn how to work as a group learn respect and solidarity. For the minimum time of 2 weeks, the project is looking for Volunteers to assist teachers in kindergarten.
