The General Directorate of Youth, Participation and Volunteering (www.xuventude.xunta.es) is a department of the Xunta de Galicia (www.xunta.gal) whose priority is to meet the needs and concerns of the young population living in Galicia, firmly believing that youth has much to contribute to society as a whole.
We work to improve the quality of life of young people in our autonomous community, developing actions and programs that benefit them, increase their well-being and allow them to improve their skill.

The objective of this proposal for the 1st Volunteer Camp in Tomiño is to carry out a series of archaeological works aimed at characterizing the As Torres site, identified in 2020 by Xurxo Salgado Tejido, journalist, editor, and professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, and characterized by archaeologist and professor at the University of Minho Rebeca Blanco-Rotea, as can be seen in the notification document included as an annex to this proposal.
The main actions of this camp are:
1. To develop an educational, archaeological, heritage, and outreach activity at the bastion or fortress located at the site of As Torres, in São Miguel de Taborda, in a project involving the Taborda Mountains community, the Archaeology Unit of the University of Minho, and the New Media Department of the USC Faculty of Journalism.
2. Carry out archaeological cataloging and documentation tasks at the site known as As Torres and disseminate the site's heritage wealth in relation to this site through oral communication, specific workshops, and outreach activities.

Tomiño is a municipality located in the southwestern part of the province of Pontevedra and is part of the Bajo Miño region.
The entire region has been inhabited since ancient times, with numerous remains from the Paleolithic and other periods of human settlement.
