This project has been organized in partnership with a local community-based organization called the Cultural and Environmental Organisation since 2022. The organization primarily focuses on improving the lives of individuals in the tea estate sector. Their key initiatives include, national integrity, conducting awareness programs for women s groups and youth, promoting home gardening, facilitating income-generating activities, and implementing savings schemes.

This project is divided into two key components. The first focuses on supporting selected families in improving their livelihoods through activities such as home gardening, plant nurseries, and small-scale domestic production. The second component, called Visit Community, offers volunteers the unique opportunity to connect directly with local women s groups, village youth, families, and kindergarten children. During these visits, volunteers share their stories and experiences while gaining a deep insight into local culture and the true essence of everyday life in the community
Konaklama ve Yemek
Our accommodation is a traditional village house where we stay with a local family. The house is equipped with electricity and purified drinking water. Host mother is cooking for us. We are responsible for keeping the premises clean and washing our own plates and dishes after meals. Laundry is done by hand, with clothes hung outside to dry. Mobile connection is available but net connection is not strong. On free day, Volunteers decide where they can visit. we can take the opportunity to visit the tea plantations, explore the historic city of Kandy, and immerse ourselves in the natural beauty surrounding the village.
Konum ve Serbest Zaman
Located 114 km from Colombo (157 km via Gampola), this rural area is nestled in the mountains at an elevation of 590 meters above sea level. It lies close to two ancient kingdoms, Gampola (17 km) and Kandy (46 km). The region boasts breathtaking landscapes, majestic mountains, and historic temples. Common crops include cardamom, black pepper, and vanilla. You can also spot grand houses, remnants of the British colonial era, built by officers and wealthy residents who once lived here.On the free day, volunteers can collaborate to plan their activities and agree on a program. Options include exploring the tea plantations, visiting historic sites, or traveling to Kandy, the last kingdom and the second-largest city in Sri Lanka.
