Community and voluntary service program is one of the UVIKIUTA core activity aiming to connect people from around the world with local communities in Tanzania. The program offers a powerful
vision built on our belief that volunteers have a vital role to play in development and in building a more just and sustainable world community. The program provides opportunities to experience different cultures, meet people from different countries, learn new or improve skills, take part in peace making and hands-on on various community development projects. It is an exceptional option for people to gain experience in service projects and increase understanding in global issues. Engage volunteers is an
initiative that focus on increased participation of volunteers in local and international development, increased voluntary service quality, visibility and accessibility of volunteers from Tanzania and around
the world.

Potential volunteer on this project is expected to assist in the following tasks.
Assist in writing accurate project descriptions highlighting key information to promote volunteer projects.
Assist to prepare promotion materials (PowerPoint presentations, expo displays, posters/fliers)
Assist to conduct regular volunteer information sessions to recruit volunteers.
Assist to generate regular updates for social media, including short stories/videos and photographs
Assist to develop and maintain networks and relationships to achieve volunteer recruitment targets.
Participate in International workcamps as a co-leader
Assist in volunteer’s recruitment, training, monitoring and evaluation

Food: Food will be provided at the project accommodation. For sustainability reasons we will most consume food harvested in the community/Region. However vegetarian meals will be available.
There is always a person to manage kitchen; however, volunteers are expected to give hand in meals preparations.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in the host family within the community where basic accommodation facilities will be provided. Expect to share room with either host family member or other volunteer from the same or other projects.

The word "Marangu" means a place with too many water streams and is one of the most popular places in Tanzania. Located at the foot of Africa's tallest mountain, the quaint village of Marangu offers fascinating insight into both modern Tanzanian life and into the lives of the Chagga people who once withstood vicious Masai raids through the ingenious use of tunnels. Inhabitant of Marangu are traditionally farmers growing bananas, vegetables and coffee. At least most household has animals like cow, goat, sheep etc. Tourism is also part of activity that contribute to the economy of Marangu. Marangu is located about 40km east of Moshi town the capital of Kilimanjaro, it is accessible by both private and public transport. Social services including markets, shops, banks, hospitals are available in the community.
Weekends and public holidays are free for volunteers. For volunteers engaging for a period of one year, they will also have full holiday of thirty days. However, volunteer has freedom to choose what
they would like to do with their holidays. Project leader and host family members will be always there to provide any kind of support needed to organize leisure activities.

Not much special skills are needed; however, the volunteer is expected to have ability to competently use MS office suite to deliver work, especially Word, Excel spread sheets and mail merge and comfortable working with a variety of databases, communication skills, including English writing and grammar skills. He/she should have Interest to interact with people from various backgrounds, Open minded, flexible, ability to work independently with less supervisions.
The project will be starting every first Monday of a month for smooth preparation of volunteers’ welcoming and training/orientation arrangements.
Minimum duration to participate on medium term voluntary service is four weeks and maximum twelve weeks.
Medium term voluntary service volunteer is required to have Ordinary visa category A6. You can consult Tanzania Immigration website on online application procedures. UVIKIUTA will provide invitation letter and other supporting documents.
