Konum ve Serbest Zaman
Manica province is located in the central interior of Mozambique, bordering Zimbabwe to the west. As in many cities across the country, the waste is disposed of in containers for this purpose, but there’s no sorting or separation of waste types, whether organic (food scraps, plants, leaves or tree branches, wood scraps, etc.) or inorganic waste (paper, plastic, glass, metal, etc.) all goes into the same container, which ends up in landfills and incinerated, which can lead to filth, disease, and environmental degradation. This project focuses on the search for sustainable techniques and strategies for solid waste treatment, including reduction, reuse, and waste recycling.
The initiative will engage 22 volunteers working together with communities and the municipalities in promoting environmental education and solid waste management, sharing successful experiences in sustainable urban waste management and environmental protection.
