İş Tanımı
In a careful coexistence with the local animals, fungi, and plants, we are transforming parts of an overgrown piece of land into structures that benefit every living being in the area. It is not supposed to be just another community garden, rather, it will become a place where educational nature activities can be developed by everybody young and old and where people can spend time together with - and not just in - nature.
With an area of 5000 square meters, located between the Stuttgart districts Feuerbach and Botnang, it will offer a place of peace, connection, and growth where they can learn about nature, ecological architecture, and different ways of symbiosis in a more than human world.
Historically, this place is marked by early Roman culture, showing archaeological findings and an old military road in the forest. Today, among vineyards and little huts, we share the place with deer, lizards, birds, bumblebees, a soon to be introduced bee colony, and many others. With such a rich background and potential, this place will become a flagship project for the region and its ecological development.
The work in the camp will include:
• Building an ecological fence to secure a steep slope and build homes for insects and birds
• Preparing the site for a herb garden
• Keeping and caring for very old fruit trees
• Constructing pathways and steps
• Maintaining the surrounding forest area
• Restoring a 100 year old dry wall
Konaklama ve Yemek
The accommodation will be simple, environmentally friendly, and embedded in nature. You will be staying just 1.5 km from the town of Feuerbach right at the work site. Two big sleeping tents and one kitchen tent will be provided. Depending on the weather it will also possible be to sleep under open sky on camp beds.
Meals will be prepared in an outdoor kitchen, where you will cook over an open fire, embracing the simplicity of camp life. There will be a compost toilet and a private outdoor shower. Two nearby public pool parks offer indoor and outdoor showers as well.
Please note that there will be no WiFi, so be sure to bring enough mobile data for your needs. Don't forget to pack a sleeping bag and matress, and, if you prefer, a pillow.
As a group, you will share responsibilities such as grocery shopping (covered by the camp budget) and meal preparation. Everyone will take turns cooking and maintaining the communal space.
Konum ve Serbest Zaman
The project site is surrounded by vineyards, fruit gardens, community gardens and hives where there is a very rich diversity of flora and fauna that deserve care and protection.
The surrounding nature is amazing and super diverse and, together with severalcultural opportunities, makes for a very good location for hiking, cycling, tracking, skating, swimming, and other types of recreational activities.
Sheltered from the wind by forests to the north and southwest, the garden site is facing south-southeast. The views stretch as far as the Swabian Forest and the Swabian Alb. The name 'Hohe Warte' ("high watch" in English) originates from this scenic location.
Although this location makes you feel immersed in nature it is well connected to the city of Stuttgart, making it easy to explore and discover the city on the weekends.
PS: Don't miss the iconic Stuttgart television tower that has an amazing view from above!
