The association Les Amis du Fort de Jouy is working on the renovation of the Jouy-sous-les-Côtes military fort. The fort is located in eastern France, not far from Nancy, Verdun and Metz, and its purpose was to protect France against possible military attacks in the 19th century. Since 2002, the association has been working on its development: historical visit are organized for tourists, and it is also often used for cultural and artistic events. The association Les Amis du Fort de Jouy has been working for many years to preserve and restore this historic monument.

Volunteers will work with local French volunteers to restore the fort, carrying out masonry, painting and maintenance work. Volunteers will be called upon to renovate walls, paint doors, break up and replace stones in a wall, clean a ditch, erect scaffolding, etc. They can also guide tourists around the fortress. Activities, workshops and visits are organized in the evenings and during weekends. The tasks can sometimes be difficult and physical, so volunteers need to be ready to work ! Sometimes under the hot summer temperatures of the East !
Konaklama ve Yemek
Volunteers will be accommodated inside the site fort on provided beds and mattresses. Please bring a warm sleeping bag, as it can get very cold at night, even in July! Remember to bring your own towel and toiletries. The accommodation is very basic, with squat toilets!
