Ansor Al-Sunnah School Pakpayoon Foundation or we normally called Sasanu Pakpayoon School is an Islamic school located in Pakpayoon District, Phatthalung Province, in southern Thailand. A few months ago, the school welcomed 5 international volunteers to participate in the Mini English Camp, English Guess It Out, and the School Open House 2025. Those activities encouraged students to become more interested in learning and practicing English in non-formal classes and real-life situations. At the same time, volunteers have the opportunity to experience the local Islamic lifestyle and discover the traditional culture of this peaceful and remote area.

The main role of the volunteers is to conduct non-formal English classes and organize fun activities for students aged 6 to 18. Volunteers will work in groups of at least 2–3 per class, with around three classes each day. In addition, extra activities will be arranged for the students during their free time and/or in the evening.
Volunteers will also take part in community activities, such as sports competitions and village ceremonies, which help strengthen relationships between the school, students, and local residents.

Local food is spicy in the Southern Thai style and uses fresh ingredients from nature. But we will get food from local restaurants 3 times a day and we can request non spicy as well Popular dishes include khao yum and turmeric curry, which show the unique identity of the area.
Volunteers will stay in accommodation provided within the school area. The sleeping area is a large shared hall where both male and female volunteers will stay in the same space, with curtains used to separate the areas for privacy. Mattresses and pillows will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own bedding if preferred. Bathrooms are located on the ground floor and are clearly separated for male and female use.

Pak Phayun is an old district in Phatthalung Province, located near Songkhla Lake. Most people in the area live close to nature and work in fishing and agriculture, such as rice farming and rubber planting. Bird’s nest collecting is also an important job that provides income for the community. People in Pak Phayun follow both Islam and Buddhism, and they live together peacefully. Their daily life is influenced by their religions, such as eating halal food and practicing religious activities.
The district has basic public services, including schools, health centers, and local administrative offices, which help support the community.
