Camparian, a locality in the commune of Canejan, is home to the ruins of an ancient priory. Excavations were carried out between 1966 and 1970, and again in 2010. These uncovered the ruins of a chapel and a monastery. The local authority now wants to enhance the area and bring back these ruins, so that the site can attract local residents and become a place to learn about history.

Take part in the rediscovery of the Camparian ruins in the pretty town of Canejan! Set between a lake and a pine forest, the workcamp will take place on the site where archaeological digs in 1966 uncovered the ruins of a chapel and a monastery.
Together, you will help restore and rebuild the old monastery ruins. You will be accompanied by a technical guide who will show you how to rebuild and protect the stone walls.

Accommodation is in individual tents (which are provided by Concordia), with sanitary facilities, kitchen and communal living area. The camp will be based close to Canéjan's sports facilities. You'll share collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the group, and you'll take part in shopping and meal preparation, giving priority to healthy, local produce. WIFI available.
Together, you'll take part in organizing community life (housework, activities, etc.) and in preparing meals, taking turns using locally sourced produce. We aim to encourage vegetarian eating with local, seasonal produce, while respecting participants' diets and discovering local cuisines together.

The commune of Canejan is located in the middle of a pine forest, and boasts a lake, the Lac Vert (Green Lake), as well as a number of sports facilities (stadiums, BMX area), hiking trails in the pine forests and cycle paths. It is less than an hour from the city of Bordeaux and close to the Atlantic coast and its beaches. On the programme: a tour of Bordeaux, a day at the beach and the famous Dune du Pilat, local events and festivities.
