İş Tanımı
It will be developed in two phases:
Phase 1. Field work.
The very important findings exhumed in previous fields and the prospecting carried out in 2023, have confirmed that in the area where the terraces of the site are located, remains of the Mozarabic settlement have been preserved.
◦ a) General cleaning of the site.
◦ b) Surface survey inside the site with new collection of the most significant superficial ceramic material, in order to extend the chronological and functional approximation of the site.
◦ c) Control of earthworks, documenting as many archaeological elements of interest during earthworks by means of stratigraphic recording, textual description and graphic reproduction if necessary.
◦ d) Excavation of the emerging masonry of the settlement.
◦ e) Graphically document all the floating structures and funerary complexes of the site and create an archaeological cartography, trying to distinguish typologically and, as far as possible, chronologically the evidence of constructions.
◦ f) Analysis of the ceramic materials, including the sealing and washing of the same. ◦ g) Protecting the exhumed elements by covering them with anti-root fabric and white washed gravel. Relocation of new wooden boards.
◦ h) Collaborate in the drafting and design of informative panels that the Town Council of Moclín wishes to place, as well as suggesting and justifying the possible location of the same according to the situation of the different remains.
◦ i) To carry out and propose new measures to enhance the value and protection of the site for the future. Placement of the original covers of the tombs found and stored in previous campaigns.
Phase 2. Cabinet work.
They will include the following tasks:
◦ 1- Topographic documentation work: The planimetry generated by the intervention will be assembled in CAD.
◦ 2- Survey and inventory of movable materials. During the cleaning and archaeological prospection phase, the archaeological remains that appear will be spatially located and classified. It will include the following operations on the pieces:
▪ -Washing and cleaning
▪ -Tagging, identification and inventory.
▪ -Transfer of movable property to museum facilities.
◦ 3- Photographic documentation. Photographic documentation of each work process, as well as a detailed detail of the state of the contour of the site profile.
◦ 4- Elaboration of a scientific report.
The archaeological site of Tózar is located next to the population center and within the approved hiking route (PR-A-44), Ruta del Gollizno. It includes, next to the Mozarabic settlement, prehistoric remains of a megalithic burial, silos carved into the rock and trenches of the Civil War. It has in its upper part with a medieval necropolis, also excavated in the rock, and in its lower part with a medieval village organized spatially from the creation of some terraces.
Regarding the necropolis, 80 burials have been recognized with certainty, appreciating three different typologies in the way of carving the tomb in the rock: anthropomorphic, bathtub and rectangular.
It is evident the prevalence of anthropomorphic tombs over the other forms, conferring a strong characterization and uniqueness to the site, due to the scarce presence of this typology in the Andalusian territory.
This Youth Volunteering project has become one of the most relevant, prestigious, solid and in demand by the Andalusian youth due to its proven effectiveness, experience in dealing with young people, development of main activities, as well as the varied offer of complementary activities, leisure and free time, of great interest and attraction for the volunteer participants.
