Kuruluş
Every year, VPV cooperates with V.GO (Vietnam Global Outreach organize different international workcamp as well as send International volunteers to support sustainable living, promote eco-tourism and preserve ethnic cultures of Vietnam in Thai Hai Village.
Thai Hai Village is a living cultural heritage site dedicated to preserving the traditions of the Tày ethnic community and sustaining strong community-based values.
Recognised internationally, Thai Hai became the first destination in Viet Nam to receive the award “Best Tourism Village” from UN Tourism in 2022. It is also among the first tourism destinations in the country to be awarded national 5-star OCOP certification. These honours reflect the village’s long-term commitment to cultural authenticity, community well-being, and responsible tourism, while safeguarding Tày cultural identity and nurturing a humane, sustainable way of life.
Once a barren hillside with no houses or trees, Thai Hai has gradually been restored into a vibrant cultural village covering more than 20 hectares. Today, over 30 traditional Tày stilt houses — many nearly a century old — have been carefully rebuilt to form a unified cultural space where heritage, nature, and community life come together. Not only the house structures but also the spirit, soul, and vitality of Tày cultural values are preserved and passed down from generation to generation.
Now, more than 150 members across three generations live together as one extended family, united by the shared principle: “One meal we share, one purse we bear.” This strong sense of community ensures that cultural values are not preserved as static displays, but practiced and sustained through everyday life.
Day after day, villagers cultivate crops, raise livestock, and grow fruits and green tea to support their daily lives and to serve visitors. In the evenings, they gather around the fireplace, singing “Then” songs accompanied by the đàn tính, flute, and the traditional dance, creating a peaceful and cosy atmosphere.
When coming to Thai Hai, you can immerse yourself in authentic and profound cultural experiences and become a part of Thai Hai family.
